COOPERSTOWN _ In Otsego County Court on June 20 before Judge Brian Burns, Derrick R. Nichols, 19, of New York City, was sentenced to five years in prison for first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree aggravated sexual abuse.
According to court records, the incident occurred Dec. 17, 2006, at the Otsego County jail in the town of Middlefield.
Nichols will be supervised for three years after he is released from prison, and he was ordered to pay a $1,000 supplemental sex-offender fee, a $270 surcharge and crime victims' fee, a $50 DNA fee and a $50 sex-registration fee.
Also in court before Judge Burns:
ä Curtis A. Leonard, 27, of Otego, pleaded innocent at arraignment to a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated. According to court records, the incident occurred Feb. 2 in the town of Oneonta.
Leonard was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to reappear in court July 14.
ä Michael Lotterman, 24, no address available, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny, an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 6 in the town of Worcester. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 14.
ä Larry E. Smith, 58, of Springfield, was sentenced to five years' probation and four months of weekends in jail for third-degree unlawful distribution of methamphetamine. Smith was ordered to pay a $270 surcharge and crime victims' fee and a $50 DNA fee.
According to court records, the incident occurred July 13 in Springfield.
ä Samuel A. Madero, 43, of Oneonta, pleaded innocent at arraignment to a charge of DWI incurred June 7 in the town of Oneonta.
Madero is free on $2,500 bail.
