An Oneonta-based addiction-recovery organization was among those receiving $510,000 in funding from the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, according to a media release.

Friends of Recovery of Delaware and Otsego Counties Inc., has been awarded $60,000 to develop a Recovery Community Center, according to the release. The funds will be used to provide services by peers and staff that include peer-led support groups to support individuals through long-term recovery from addictions including alcohol, drugs and gambling, the release said.

Friends of Recovery past president Elizabeth Currier said the agency will use the funds to develop a peer-based recovery-support service, building on services at the Turning Point Center on Elm Street, she said. The agency could receive $60,000 each year for five years under the terms of the funding, she said.
