July 11, 2009 12:00 am The skies above Gilbertsville will be avenues for model planes this and next weekend, according to event organizers. ``Warbirds Over the Polo Field'' continues Saturday and Sunday at the New York Polo Field in Gilbertsville, organizers said. A variety of military-aircraft replicas will by flown by radio control during the show organized by the Leatherstocking Radio Control Buzzards. The event is a memorial to Dino Di Giorgio, presenters said. For more information, call Al Kanser at 293-7974 or visit rcbuzzards.com. From July 16 to 19, ``Airshow 2009'' will benefit Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care. ``Giant-scale'' models will be flown by radio control at the polo field, organizers said. The Gilbertsville Mount-Upton Central School will have food, according to organizers, and aircraft operators will be available to visit with spectators. Shows run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission or donations are $3 for adults. Youths 12 and younger are admitted free of charge. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs and sunscreen.
