Three men were arrested Monday in connection with a string of burglaries in the Pittsfield area.
Mitchell D. Pepper, 19, of New Berlin, Christopher A. Romano, 21, of New Berlin, and Anthony J. Pagillo, 22, of Morris, were charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny.
The three men broke into a seasonal home in the town of Pittsfield in late June, Otsego deputies said in a media release distributed Thursday.
On July 20, the homeowner reported the break-in and the next day, Pepper and Romano were arrested in their home after an air-conditioner and propane tank from the seasonal residence was seen in plain view, deputies said.
Pagillo later surrendered himself to deputies at the Otsego County Sheriff's Office in Middlefield.
Pepper and Pagillo are responsible for other burglaries in the Pittsfield area and will face additional charges, deputies said.
A search warrant at Pepper and Romano's home turned up stolen items including two ATVs, liquor and tools, deputies said.
A rifle taken in one of the break-ins was recovered from a town of Laurens home later on Monday, deputies said.
The men were arraigned in Pittsfield Town Court. Romano was sent to Otsego County jail on $5,000 bail; Pepper was sent there on $2,500 bail; and Pagillo was released on his own recognizance.
Romano is on felony probation and also faces a violation of probation charge.
The case was investigated by investigator Michael Ten Eyck, probation officer Timothy DeForest and deputies Stanley Cade and Michael Stalter.
Pepper and Romano are to reappear Monday in Pittsfield Town Court and Pagillo is to reappear Aug. 4.
