Three-car crash injures four
Four people were hurt in a three-car accident in the town of Pittsfield on Saturday morning, Otsego County deputies said.
The accident, reported to emergency 911 dispatchers at 9:17 a.m. Saturday, was at the intersections of county Highway 18, Burdick Road and Shacktown Mountain Road, also known as the ``four-corners'' area, deputies said.
Pittsfield, Morris, Edmeston, South New Berlin and New Berlin emergency squad and fire department crews responded to the scene, and four people were taken to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, deputies said in a media release.
On Sunday, Otsego Sheriff Richard Devlin said Gerald Pittsfley had minor injuries, and a Bassett spokeswoman said he was treated and discharged.
Devlin said Thomas, Jeffrey and Kevin Meyers were hurt, and a Bassett spokeswoman said Sunday night they were in stable condition. The nature of relations among the Meyers was not immediately available.
The accident is under investigation by the sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division and its accident reconstruction team, and more details weren't available Sunday night.
Group to hear hospital chiefs
Talks between A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital and Bassett Healthcare will be the topic of a meeting presented by the Otsego County Chamber at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
John Remillard, chief operating officer of Fox Hospital in Oneonta, and Dr. William Streck, CEO of Bassett Healthcare based in Cooperstown, will be at the Oneonta Holiday Inn, said organizers with the Chamber's Business Action Committee.
Fox and Bassett began talks last fall about sharing some services, including orthopedics, cancer and cardiac care. Negotiations intensified, and in March, administrators reported the institutions were looking at cooperation up to and including a possible affiliation.
In May, Bassett and Fox initiated a shared-services agreement to provide orthopedic treatments and surgery.

I-88 bridge painting set today
Crews will be bridge painting on Interstate 88 in Otsego County starting at 8 a.m. today , the state Department of Transportation announced in a media release Friday.
Bridge painting will be done over Ouleout Creek on I-88 eastbound and over Crane Hill Road, I-88 eastbound and westbound, the release said. Motorists will encounter passing-lane closures within a moving work zone and are advised to stay alert.

Work will be complete by 6 p.m. Oct. 2, weather permitting, the release said.
