Stamford school schedule set

August 30, 2008 04:00 am

The Stamford Central School District will begin the 2008-09 school year Tuesday with a full conference day for faculty and staff, according to a media release.

Students will report for classes at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday. The cafeteria will be open for breakfast and lunch.

Students in grades K-6 should report directly to their homeroom, the release said, while students in grades 7-12 should report to their first period.

Because of a construction project, the bus loop will be closed for most of September and maybe longer, according to the release. Buses will be using the north parking lot for student pickup and drop-off during construction _ entering and exiting the north lot between 7:45 and 8 a.m. Parents who drop their children off at the north-end door are asked to do so at about 7:40 or 8 a.m. during the construction.

Also, people are urged to not use the south lot, the release said, citing traffic congestion that can be caused by the turn-around process for vehicles exiting the lot.

Applications for the free and reduced breakfast and lunch program will be sent home the first week of school. If a child was eligible last year, the release said, they will be eligible the first week of classes.
