Man accused in sex crimes
SIDNEY _ A Sidney man was arrested on multiple sexual-abuse charges, state police said Sunday.
Jason M. Simmons, 34, was charged Thursday with fourth-degree aggravated sexual abuse, a felony, Oneonta troopers said.
Also on Thursday, Simmons was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, troopers said, and he was released on an appearance ticket.
A call left for an investigator at the Sidney station at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday wasn't immediately returned.
Felony forgery charge lodged
MOUNT UPTON _ A Mount Upton man was charged with two felonies, state police at Norwich said.
Michael P. Miller, 38, was charged Wednesday with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, troopers said. The arrest was in connection to an incident reported Aug. 20.
Men arrested in burglary
MIDDLEBURGH _ Two men have been accused of burglarizing a Middleburgh home, state police at Cobleskill said.
Corey Bartholomew, 19, of Middleburgh, and Johnathan Scala, 20, of Wright, were charged Aug. 24 with second-degree burglary, a felony, and they were sent to Schoharie County jail on $20,000 cash or 40,000 bond, troopers said.
Scala, who is on felony probation in Schoharie County, may face additional charges, troopers said.
Cobleskill troopers said the defendants entered a residence Aug. 11 and stole jewelry and electronics. During the investigation, troopers learned that a suspicious individual was attempting to sell jewelry to a local business, according to an Aug. 26 news release. That individual was one of the suspects, troopers said, and the arrests and recovery of some of the stolen property resulted.
