September 04, 2008 04:00 am JEFFERSON _ There will be a public meeting about issues surrounding potential natural-gas exploration in the area from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Central School. Organized by an ad hoc committee of Jefferson landowners, the meeting will include presentations by legal and energy consultants, who will also be available to answer questions, organizers said. Scheduled speakers are Don Zaengle, a petroleum geologist consultant based in Worcester; James D. Ward, a lawyer with offices in Binghamton and Hancock, who will address the legal aspects of lease agreements; and Vincent C. Stalis, who represents marketing for Northeast Energy Development LLC. According to the organizers, the ``meeting is intended solely to inform our community about the various issues related to potential natural-gas exploration in the region, so we may better understand and prepare ourselves to address them in the future."
