3 arrested on drug charges

Three people were arrested on felony drug charges on Thursday in the town of Butternuts.

The arrests came after the execution of a search warrant at 543 Clarence Musson Road, according to a media release from state police in Albany.

Seventeen officers from state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and Oneonta police were involved, troopers said. The search detail was assisted with support from the state police aviation unit in Albany.

Property owner James A. Wise, 47; Timothy J. Souza, 30 of Brentwood, N.H.; and Rebekah M. Goldbaum, 33, Haverhill, Mass.; were charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, troopers said. The class C felony carries a possible prison sentence of 41/2-to-15 years in prison, troopers said.

More than 150 plants were seized in the basement, pool house and outside the residence, troopers said.

It is estimated that the after the drying process, there would have been 10 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of about $12,000, troopers said. Also seized were devices used to facilitate the indoor growing of marijuana.

The three were sent to Otsego County jail on $15,000 bail each, troopers said.
