ONEONTA _ The Oneonta Board of Education is likely to appoint a business manager at its regular meeting Wednesday.
Delhi Central School business manager Lisa Weeks, of Oneonta, is being recommended for appointment to the job at a salary of $95,000, said Oneonta schools Superintendent Michael Shea.
If approved, she would fill the vacancy left when Deputy Superintendent Thomas Austin, who was making $117,000, left to become superintendent at Walton Central School starting Aug. 1. Interim business manager David R. Whipple has been serving since July at a per diem rate of $400.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work in the community,” Weeks said. “I am looking forward to being approved so I can serve students, staff and taxpayers.”
Shea said“her proven abilities made her stand out (during the search process). She has the skills and experience to fit right in.”
If the board accepts the recommendation, Weeks would start Oct. 27, Shea said.
According to her resume, she has been at Delhi since February 2004. She was a business executive at Otsego-Northern Catskill Board of Cooperative Educational Services from 1997 until 2004, and she held a couple of positions at D.M. Graham Laboratories in Hobart from 1992-97.
Weeks received her bachelor's in business economics from the State University College at Oneonta in 1995, and earned her associate's degree in 1988 from the State University College of Technology at Delhi.
