Oneonta spa to hold grand opening Friday

Karma Spa and Boutique in downtown Oneonta will have a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to a media release from the Otsego County Chamber.

Karma Spa and Boutique is at 219-225 Main St.

"The Otsego County business community is thrilled to welcome another unique business,'' Rob Robinson, president and chief executive officer of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, said in the release.

Oneonta Mayor John Nader will cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the business at 5:15 p.m.

Karma Spa and Boutique will offer massages, skin treatments, nail specialties and body therapies, the release said, and the boutique portion will carry a variety of apparel.

Owners Gina Tarbell and Erin Muller have backgrounds in cosmetology and esthetic sciences, the release said, and after meeting two years ago, the owners realized that they had the same vision to create a genuine spa that provides a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere.

"It is important to us that we are continually creating new things," Muller said in a prepared statement. "We wanted to give the community another place that they feel proud to walk into and proud when they exit."

The opening Friday will feature refreshments, music and tours of the spa, the release said, and the first 100 guests will receive gift bags filled with discounts.

Organizers said "cocktail chic" attire is required at the event that will end at 9 p.m.
