A former car museum and office building in Hartwick Seminary has been turned into a center for skin care, pain treatment and other services offered by Bassett Healthcare.
The Bassett Division of Dermatology is relocating Cooperstown-based outpatient clinical services to Hartwick Seminary, a media release said. In addition, the facility will be home to a new program focused on cosmetic interventions and surgery _ the Bassett Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skin Care Center.
The facility is four miles south of Cooperstown on state Route 28. There will be an open house at the center from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5, with refreshments and door prizes.
The newly renovated facility will help Bassett accommodate dermatology needs in the region, Bassett Healthcare officials said, and the center also will be an asset in physician recruitment. The center has created 11 office jobs and nursing positions.
The building previously was the site of the Corvette Americana Hall of Fame, which closed more than 10 years ago, and more recently housed some Otsego County offices when it was known as the Greystone Building.
The anticipated range of services at the center includes facial peels, microdermabrasion, injectable fillers and BOTOX, as well as photorejuvenation and hair removal with intense pulsed light, the Bassett release said. Consultation will be offered for a range of procedures including tummy tucks, liposuction, face lifts and breast augmentation.
State-of-the-art treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers will be available with the addition of Mohs micrographic surgery, the Bassett release issued Monday said.
Hartwick Seminary will also be home to the Bassett Interventional Pain Management Center. Physiatrists and neurosurgeons who specialize in procedures to alleviate chronic and acute pain will offer comprehensive care for patients with disorders, including back and neck pain resulting from disc herniation, spinal stenosis and degenerative arthritis, officials said.
The services were phased in, with dermatology opening Oct. 19, physiatry opening Oct. 20 and plastics opening Monday, Bassett Healthcare spokeswoman Karen Huxtable said.
Huxtable said employees working at the center include six physicians, two physician assistants, 11 created positions and five regular staff who transferred.
In addition, three plastic surgeons and two physician assistants will go to the center to perform outpatient procedures and surgery, she said. Three physiatrists and a neurosurgeon have time scheduled at the center.
According to records at Otsego County Real Property Tax Services, the property includes almost 7 acres and about 27,560 square feet of gross floor area, and the assessed value is $1.97 million. Templeton Foundation bought the property for $3 million on June 11, 2007, from Michael and Carol-Ann Manno of Cooperstown, records said.
Templeton Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with Bassett Healthcare that provides housing, clinical, office and storage space to Bassett, Huxtable said, and the center is on the tax rolls.
