SIDNEY _ A Sidney woman faces a second-degree grand larceny charge for allegedly stealing $50,000 from her Oneonta employer over a two-year period.

Marsha E. Ward, 37, was charged with the felony Tuesday after turning herself into city police.

Ward was an employee of R.J. Millworkers Inc. when she stole $51,986.89 by writing company checks to herself and cashing them, according to the felony complaint on file in Oneonta City Court.

Ward used the money for car payments, mortgage payments, property taxes and the purchase of a golf cart, according to a statement from her on file with court records.

In that statement, Ward confessed to taking money from her employer, the records indicate.

Ward was released on $1,000 bail and is to appear Dec. 2 for further proceedings.
