SUCO to host state music fest

ONEONTA _ The State University College at Oneonta on Friday and Saturday will host 340 student musicians from 33 high schools in the region for the annual New York State School Music Association Zone 8 Area All-State Music Festival.

The event will be held in the Hunt Union Ballroom on campus.

The students will present a concert starting at 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students and free for children age 4 or younger. Members of the community are invited to attend.

Four large ensembles will perform at the concert: the Concert Band, conducted by Kent Burchill; the Women's Chorus, conducted by Theresa Lee-Whiting; the String Orchestra, conducted by Ron Hebert; and the Mixed Chorus, conducted by Timothy Newton.

Robert Barstow, chairman of the Music Department at SUCO, will serve as host and festival coordinator.
