Staff Report
November 21, 2008 04:00 am RICHFIELD SPRINGS _ The former interim Schuyler Lake postmaster was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a debit/credit card from a post office box in August and using it, Otsego deputies said. Sandra K. Slotnick, 31, of Richfield Springs, was charged with first-degree identity theft and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, deputies said. A complaint was received at the end of August that the card had been fraudulently used in Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs, deputies said. An investigation revealed that Slotnick, who was postmaster relief at the time in Schuyler Lake, allegedly used the card to obtain $2,311 during July and August, deputies said. Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl said Slotnick had been in the position for about a year when the card was taken. He said he did not know when or under what circumstances she left the job. She was released on her own recognizance to appear in court in December, deputies said. She faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted.
