November 28, 2007 04:00 am A man living in a Unadilla trailer park was arrested Sunday on charges he sodomized a child younger than 11, used a child in a sexual performance and promoted a sexual performance by a child. Steven T. Hunt, 52, faces three felony charges including first-degree criminal sexual act. He was arraigned in Sidney Village Court and sent to Delaware County jail on $100,000 bail. The alleged sexual contact occurred in the village of Sidney, but Hunt lived at a trailer park in the town of Unadilla, said Sidney-based state police Investigator Jamie Bell. The trailer park on state Route 7 is known to troopers as the Sidney/Unadilla trailer park. Bell would only answer a few questions regarding the case and would not say how Hunt knew the child, where the alleged sex occurred, if the child was a boy or a girl, or if the child involved in the sodomy was the same child involved in the sexual performance. But he did say troopers were eying the possibility of more than one victim. "We're still at the ground level on this," Bell said. Hunt is disabled and does not work, Bell said. He would not say if Hunt had children or otherwise lived with children. A search warrant executed Sunday resulted in the seizure of thousands of VHS videotapes, digital media items and a computer, Bell said. Some of the seized material had depictions of pornography and child pornography, states a media release from troopers. Troopers must review the material to determine if there are additional depictions of child pornography. Bell said a separate child pornography case involving 150 videotapes took months to review. The State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Southern Tier Cyber Predator Task Force are assisting in the investigation. A felony hearing for Hunt is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sidney Village Court. Hunt lives at lot 18 at the trailer park at 754 State Route 7. He was not a registered sex offender, Bell said. There are between 30 and 40 mobile homes at the trailer park, Bell said. The charge of criminal sexual act was formerly known as sodomy, which under state penal law was defined as oral or anal sex. The change in language was made by the state Legislature in 2003.
