A local physician who sees patients for a flat fee has expanded hours to meet demand.

Dr. Joan Bachorik, whose office is at 37 Dietz St. in Oneonta, has added hours from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays. Her schedule already included 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Patients have requested afternoon hours and been stopping by on Mondays since the change went into effect Dec. 1, she said.

Bachorik practices internal medicine and oncology and opened the walk-in clinic in November 2004. The cost for a visit is $40, she said, and no appointment is needed. The clinic provides access to medical care for patients who do not have insurance, and she provides receipts for patients who have insurance. She also sees patients covered by Medicare.

Bachorik said treatments include physicals, second opinions and seasonal respiratory ailments.

Patients visiting the clinic must be 18 or older, she said. Bachorik said she is astounded that patients travel from Gilbertsville, Richmondville and New Berlin for care at the clinic.
