CV-S wins consolation games at Remy

Wyatt Crowley scored a game-high 19 points and had eight assists to lead Cherry-Valley Springfield to a consolation victory in the Anton Remy Tournament at Milford.

Crowley, who was selected to the all-tournament team, scored nine of his 19 points in the Patriots’ 24-1 run in the first quarter.

Dustin Collins contributed 12 points and six blocks for CV-S (1-1), which will travel to Milford on Dec. 4.

Will Rendler, who received all-tournament honors, scored a team-best 16 points for Roxbury (0-2), which received 14 points from Matt Faraci.

Jordan Loucks scored a game-high 20 points to lead Cherry-Valley Springfield to a consolation win in the Anton Remy Tournament at Milford.

Loucks, an all-tournament selection, scored nine of her 20 points in the first quarter as the Patriots outscored the Wildcats, 23-6.

Lauren Loucks contributed 19 points and teammate Maddie Archer had 16 for Cherry-Valley Springfield (1-1), which will host Milford on Dec. 3.

Ashley Drake scored a team-best 11 points for Hancock (0-2).

Peyton Griffiths scored 13 of his game-high 27 points in the first quarter, leading host Milford to a first-round victory in the Anton Remy Tournament.

“Nothing was forced,” Milford coach Frank Spurchise said of Griffiths’ performance, which helped the Wildcats to a 21-10 lead after one quarter of the season opener for both teams. “A lot of it was running the floor. He’s tough to stop going to the basket.”

Jacob Tabor grabbed nine rebounds and Max Lang blocked four shots for Milford.

William Rendler scored 13 points and Patrick Hanrahan had 10 for the Warriors.

Harpursville 62, CV-S 38

Senior Miranda Drummond scored all of her game-high 33 points in the first three quarters, helping Harpursville to a first-round victory in the Anton Remy Tournament at Milford.

“They came out in a zone and she was on fire,” Harpursville coach Kurt Ehrensbeck said of Drummond, who hit three of her four three-pointers and scored 18 points in the first quarter of the season opener for both teams.

Last week, Drummond and Oneonta High senior guard Mariah Ruff signed with Division I St. Bonaventure.

Shelby Medovich contributed 13 points for the defending Section Four Class C champion Hornets, who advanced to the state title game last season.

Harpursville took a 38-17 lead into halftime.

Jordan Loucks scored nine points to pace the Patriots.

Maddy Zenir scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to lead host Milford to a victory in the opening round of the Anton Remy Tournament.

Mataiah Waters hit the go-ahead basket, a 17-foot jumper that gave Milford the 39-37 lead, with less than two minutes left.

Serena Chase then made two free throws and Sadie Hogan hit another for the Wildcats, who took a 19-15 lead into halftime.

“It was a hard-fought battle,” Milford coach Jim Weir said.

Milford also received team-highs of 12 points and eight steals from Addy Lawson.

Jessica Worzel scored a game-high 15 points for Hancock.

Franklin 37, CV-S 34

Derek Beers capped his 14-point performance with the go-ahead layup as Franklin started its season with a first-round victory over Tri-Valley League rival Cherry Valley-Springfield in the Anton Remy Tournament at Milford.

Beers drove the length of the court after receiving an inbounds pass with 10 seconds left, then snapped a 34-all tie on a layup 6 seconds later. Franklin then hit 1 of 2 free throws as the Patriots were forced to foul after turning over the ball.

Wyatt Crowley’s eight points paced Cherry-Valley Springfield, which received seven apiece from Dustin Collins and Nick Mills.

Franklin took a 22-20 lead into halftime.
