---- — The Oneonta Planning Commission unanimously approved plans for the proposed Hillside Commons student apartment complex during a meeting Wednesday night, the chairman said.
Newman Development Group of Vestal has proposed building Hillside Commons, a four-story, 330-bed apartment complex for full-time college students, on Blodgett Drive.
On Wednesday night at a meeting in City Hall, planners made a “negative declaration” on the mandated State Environmental Quality Review of the project, Chairman Dennis Finn said.
With a negative declaration, planners decided the project has no potentially significant adverse environmental impact.
Planners also voted unanimously to approve the developer’s site plan application as well as for some resolutions prepared by the city attorney specifying concerns about the project, Finn said.
Pending comments from Otsego County and the State University College at Oneonta were received in time for the planners to vote Wednesday, Finn said.
Newman Development Group plans to begin construction this summer.
