Freshman Maria Noto continued her torrid pitching, striking out 17 in a two-hitter to lead host Cooperstown to a 7-0 Center State Conference softball victory over Frankfort-Schuyler on Monday.

Noto has 61 strikeouts over Cooperstown’s first four games.

“She’s pretty quick,” Cooperstown coach Dave Bliss said of Noto, who walked one and hit a batter Monday. “She hits her spots really. She has three pitches she throws consistently well. She’s throwing high 50s, close to 60. She’s a good little pitcher.”

Cooperstown (3-1, 2-1) scored three times in the first inning without a hit. The first four batters walked, and Maria Noto and Maggie Hall scored on the same wild pitch in the inning.

Hall finished 3-for-3 with an RBI, Jen Flynn went 2-for-2 with an RBI, Maria Noto had two hits and Carson Haney finished with two RBIs for Cooperstown, which is at Sauquoit tomorrow before hosting Hoosick Falls on Saturday and Central Valley on Monday.
