Forum to highlight

judge candidates

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will host “Meet the Judges Candidate Forum” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Walton Theatre at 31 Gardiner Place in Walton. The question-and-answer forum will feature Delaware County Judge Carl Becker of Stamford and candidate Gary Rosa of New Kingston. Bert More will act as moderator for this forum.

‘My Two Moms’

author to speak

Sponsored by SUNY Delhi’s Student Programming Board, Zach Wahls will present “My Two Moms – What is Family” at 7 p.m. Thursday in The Okun Theatre.

Wahls’ book, “My Two Moms,” is a memoir based on his life growing up in a two-mom family living in the Midwest. In 2011, he addressed the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in a public hearing regarding a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Iowa. According to a media release, Wahls “proudly proclaimed, ‘The sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character.’ His speech quickly went viral on YouTube, receiving more than 2 million views.”

Journalist to speak

at Hartwick

Hartwick College will host a lecture today by journalist Scott Carlson titled “Tools for Life: Practical Knowledge, Reinventing Education, and Rebuilding America.” The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in Anderson Theatre in the Anderson Center for the Arts on the College campus. This event is free and open to the public. 

According to a media release, Carlson’s talk will focus on how hands-on skills can provide a foundation for people who want to change society. Carlson is a senior reporter at The Chronicle of Higher Education, where he writes about sustainability, buildings, campus planning, energy, architecture, and college management.
