Man sentenced for burglary

COOPERSTOWN _ In Otsego County Court on Aug. 6 before Judge Brian Burns, Brandon J. Empie, 26, of Worcester was sentenced to one to three years in prison for third-degree burglary.

According to court records, the incident occurred in March 2009 in Worcester.

Empie also was ordered to pay $5,040 in restitution and $425 in court fees.

Also in court Aug. 6 before Burns:

"¢ Douglas V. Sperry Jr., 39, of Oneonta, was sentenced to one to three years in prison for driving while intoxicated.

According to court records, the incident occurred Dec. 1, 2009, in Milford.

Sperry also was fined $2,500 and assessed $470 in court fees.

"¢ Christopher A. Manker, 48, of Unadilla, pleaded innocent at arraignment to two counts of driving while intoxicated.

According to court records, the incident occurred April 2 in Unadilla. He was released on his own recognizance to await further court proceedings.

"¢ Rachel A. Croft, 23, of the Bronx, was sentenced to 2½ years in prison with 1½ years of post-release supervision for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

According to court records, the incident occurred March 27 in the city of Oneonta.

Croft also was forced to forfeit about $6,485, was assessed $375 in court fees and her driver's license was suspended.

"¢ John R. Caraballo, 38, of the Bronx, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, heroin, and was sentenced as a second-felony offender to four years in prison, with 1½ years post-release supervision.

According to court records, the incident occurred Sept. 1, 2009, in Milford.

He also was ordered to forfeit $3,472 and was assessed $375 in court fees.

"¢ Brian L. Johnson, 40, of Rome, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, cocaine.

According to court records, the incident occurred Feb. 8, 2009, and Feb. 18, 2009, in the city of Oneonta.

He was then sentenced to 2½ years in prison with one year post-release supervision.

In addition, he was assessed $375 in court fees and his driver's license was suspended.
