A 5-year-old Unadilla girl was beaming with smiles Wednesday when her runaway horse was returned to her by a pair of men who found the four-legged wayfarer after it wandered up a hill several miles from its home.
“The two of them made a little girl very happy today,” said Melinda Memoli, whose daughter, Gabriella, had gotten the horse named Spirit two weeks ago as a present.
She said the two men who found spirit were Albert Lepera and Richard Hall. The horse had found its way to a hill off Martin Brook Street, which is approximately six miles from the Memoli house.
“Spirit is home safe and sound, and my daughter is very happy,” Memoli said.
