SUCO show to benefit cancer research

A SUNY Oneonta sorority will host a step exhibition and stroll show competition Saturday to benefit breast cancer research.

“Turn Up the Volume Part V” will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Hunt Union Ballroom on the college campus. Hosted by Mu Sigma Upsilon, a multicultural sorority, the competition invites step teams from sororities and fraternities at colleges around the Northeast to compete for cash prizes.

The event is open to the public; tickets are available in advance by emailing nysachapter@yahoo.com, and will be sold at the door. A portion of the $7 door charge will go toward the Keep A Breast Foundation, a youth-focused nonprofit breast cancer organization. Keep A Breast is the national philanthropic cause of Mu Sigma Upsilon, which has 50 chapters nationwide, with headquarters in New Jersey.

The Turn up the Volume event began in March 2006 to raise funds for ovarian cancer. According to a media release from the sorority: “MSU continues to use this event as a platform to educate and create awareness on causes directly affecting women within our generation.”

More information about the charity is available at www.keep-a-breast.org. More information about the event is available at facebook.com/MuSigmaUpsilonSororityIncNysa.
