Three local residents have been arrested in a drug case stemming from a three-month investigation into the sale of cocaine, state police at Margaretville said.
Victor M. Perez, 57, and his wife, Kris Perez, 45, of 104 Frog Alley Road in the town of Middletown, were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, troopers said. After arraignment in Middletown Town Court, they were sent to Delaware County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Troopers said they seized 46 packets of cocaine packaged for sale with an estimated street value of $2,300, packing materials and a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition.
The defendants were arrested after members of the state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and Margaretville troopers executed a search warrant at the Perez residence at about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
John D. Gilchrist, 53, of 2 Olga Drive, in Margaretville, was located in the driveway during execution of the search warrant, and troopers charged him with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was released on a ticket to appear in Middletown court on March 28.
The investigation continues, and further charges are pending, the release said.
