---- — The 13th annual Big Squeeze Weekend at Fly Creek Cider Mill raised more than $2,000 for the Bassett Cancer Institute, a media release from the cider mill said this week.
Proceeds from cider sales Saturday went to the center through the Friends of Bassett Heathcare Network.
“We had a wonderful turnout for this fundraiser,” said Brenda Michaels, a co-owner of the cider mill. “It was a great start in promoting October as National Breast Cancer Awareness month.”
As part of the fundraising event, which raised $2,386, members of Bassett’s Mobile Mammography Department answered questions at the cider mill and set up mammography appointments.
Michaels noted that past Big Squeeze events had raised money for the department’s mammography screening coach.
