---- — Plans are in the works to spruce up Oneonta’s Neahwa and Catella parks, including the entrance along Market Street, and to add a water splash park for children and a dog park.
The city hired the LA Group of Saratoga Springs to update the Parks Master Plan, originally completed in 1996, according to the city’s website at www.oneonta.ny.us/parks-master-plan-update/. Illustrations of proposed enhancements are available on the website, and the city seeks public comments.
Proposed enhancements to the park entrance at Market Street include adding signs and landscaping, specifically trees, grass, seasonal flowers and a crosswalk across Market Street.
Paths, trails and walkways are to be connected and improved, and landscaping improvements are planned at many points. Parking spaces will be added, and general infrastructure repairs and enhancements are planned.
Plans include a new walkway around Hodges Pond, linking the historic Caboose into the trail system and extending the walk along the Mill Race, according the the proposal.
A new restroom building is proposed, and other additions include a new sand volleyball court, a splash park for children and a proposed 3-acre dog park.
Comments may be submitted to the attention of Oneonta City Clerk James Koury, City Hall, 258 Main St., or at email@example.com.
