About 600 SUNY Oneonta students will go “Into the Streets’’ to help groups in local communities Saturday morning.
The annual day of service is sponsored by the Center for Social Responsibility and Community at the State University College at Oneonta. Students will team up with community volunteers at 45 sites throughout Otsego County to work on such projects as painting, window washing and cleaning at nonprofit agencies, schools, churches and parks, a media release from the college said.
Nancy Kleniewski, SUNY Oneonta president, will speak at a 9 a.m. breakfast on campus before 50 student teams travel to sites in Oneonta, Laurens, Milford, Cooperstown and Edmeston.
Into the Streets is being coordinated by SUNY Oneonta students Stephanie Aquino, Lourdes Paulino and Peter Lacell with support from Lyn Jeanty and Susie Salce.
SUNY Oneonta’s Center for Social Responsibility and Community provides students with a variety of volunteer and service-learning opportunities throughout the year. For more information about Into the Streets, contact center director Linda Drake at 436-2633 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
