---- — HARTWICK — A two-story woodframe home at 2977 Otsego County Route 11 was gutted by fire early Wednesday before the flames were doused by firefighters from several local fire companies.
Hartwick Fire Co. No.1 Chief Robert O’Brien said the cause of the 12:48 a.m. blaze remains under investigation. A man who had been residing at the house is now staying with friends who live nearby.
No injuries were reported.
O’Brien said his firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Hartwick Fire Co. No. 2, Cooperstown, Fly Creek, Mt. Vision and Laurens. MIlford firefighters were on standby, he said.
Early Tuesday, local firefighters were also busy, responding to a blaze in a garage at Daniels Brothers Auto Sales, a used car lot at 6225 State Highway 28 in Fly Creek.
Fly Creek Fire Chief Mike Thayer said the building, made of block with a wooden roof, has been declared “a total loss.”
There were no injuries in the 12:21 a.m. fire, and Fly Creek received assistance from local fire companies, Thayer said.
