Delhi police are investigating a robbery that occurred 4:12 p.m. Friday at the Express Mart convenience store on Kingston Street.
Jamel Wilson, 41, of Hobart was charged with third-degree robbery, petit larceny and second-degree harassment in the incident, Delhi police said. After he was taken into custody by state police, he was charged with driving while ability impaired, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Officials said Wilson forcibly took an unspecified amount of cash from the store register, then fled the scene in a vehicle. The following then occurred, Delhi police said: state police saw his vehicle traveling on county Route 18 in the town of Stamford and he was taken into custody by troopers without incident. He was issued an appearance ticket on the drug charges to appear at a later date. On the robbery charges he was arraigned in Delhi Town Court and sent to Delaware County jail on $15,000 cash bail. Delhi police were also assisted by Delaware deputies.
