---- — A Sidney Center man was arrested Friday night after drunk driving with a child in his vehicle, a class E felony, according to New York state police blotter.

State police at Sidney charged Michael W. Block, 30, with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle. This is the second local individual in a week being charged with the crime, a felony under the state’s Child Passenger Protection Act, in which any individual who is driving while intoxicated and transporting passengers 15 years old or younger is automatically charged with a class E felony.

Block was also charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana.

If convicted of the felony, the Child Passenger Protection Act requires the charged individual to have a mandatory ignition interlock system, which prevents he or she from starting the car if intoxicated.
