---- — Area residents looking to take on new challenges can sign up for the 2014 Leadership Otsego program, which will begin in April.

Applications are being accepted for the program, which is presented by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Executive Service Corps. Established in 1997 by the Future for Oneonta Foundation, Hartwick College, SUNY Oneonta, the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, and the Otsego Chamber, the program teaches area residents and workers about leadership concepts and skills using discussions with people across the county.

This year’s program will begin with an information night on Wednesday at Stella Luna. Applications are being accepted now through April 1. The weekly full-day sessions will begin in April and continue for six months.

Participants have the opportunity to build their personal networks as well as understanding of local challenges and opportunities by interacting with numerous presenters. Since its start in 1997, Leadership Otsego participants have heard from nearly 150 area experts. Topics will include commerce and trade, education, healthcare, government and leadership.

According to a media release from the Chamber, applicant range from entry-level managers to top administrators, and from young adults to empty-nesters and retirees. Alumni represent a variety of occupations, employers, interests, and hometowns throughout the county.

Reservations are requested for Wednesday’s kickoff dinner, which will begin at 6 p.m. For more information about the dinner or the Leadership Otsego program, contact Otsego County Chamber President and CEO Barbara Ann Heegan at 432-4500, ext. 202, or baheegan@otsegocc.com.
