Fourth-seeded Morris and third-seeded Franklin earned shutout victories in Section Four Class D girls soccer semifinals Wednesday at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta.

With cash-strapped Otsego County considering layoffs in several agencies, county Clerk Kathy Sinnott-Gardner said Thursday her office will cease processing passport applications and stop issuing veterans’ identification cards if it is stripped of any positions.

In sports: Defending champion Cherry Valley-Springfield and Margaretville attempted three shots apiece in shutout losses in Section Four Class D boys soccer semifinals on slick fields at the Wright National Soccer Campus on Thursday.

Both squads fell by 2-0 scores, with the third-seeded Patriots losing to No. 2 Marathon and fourth-seeded Margaretville falling to No. 1 Elmira Notre Dame.
