---- — The preliminary analysis of what the district saved by closing Center Street Elementary School was presented at Wednesday’s Oneonta City School District Board of Education meeting. The latest estimate in salary and benefit savings is $761,466, including non-budgeted savings, according to the presentation by business manager Lisa Weeks.

Besides the elimination of 16.4 full-time equivalency positions, this included hours cut for a part-time technology teacher for a savings of $13,641 and a student activity adviser for a savings of $2,753. Utility costs have to be determined, but when the process is completed, she said, savings should be approximately $931,534, which was the amount estimated in April.

This is possible despite the loss of about $100,000 from a federal reading grant that was unexpectedly cut, and the loss of about $50,000 of rental income from Otsego Northern Catskills Board of Cooperative Education Services that was expected.

In other business the board approved a $4.6 million building project to go before voters
