ONEONTA — The Southside Mall was evacuated this afternoon because of smoke resulting from a heating, ventilation and air conditioning problem. The entire mall had power restored and was back in operation by 3:15 p.m. In addition, power was out on Route 23 on Southside from Aldi's to the mall for about an hour, according to Oneonta Fire Chief Patrick Pidgeon.
