Police: 146 heroin bags seized in motel raid

Three local men are in Otsego County jail as the result of an investigation into drug trafficking, Oneonta city police said.

The men were arrested on Chestnut Street after leaving Motel 88, 340 Chestnut St., where two of them lived, Lt. Douglas Brenner said Friday. Four officers and detectives arrested the men at about 6 p.m. Thursday and found two of them in possession of drugs and cash, Brenner said. He said 146 bags of heroin with a street value of about $3,600 and also $700 in cash were confiscated.

Authorities said arrest and court action included:

• Adam G. Scully, 24, of Oneonta, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal conspiracy, both felonies. He was arraigned in Oneonta City Court, assigned to attorney Paul Madison and sent to jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail

• Robert L. Gaudino, 24, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree conspiracy, a felony. He was arraigned, assigned to attorney Robert Gouldin and sent to jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond bail.

• Dylan M. Gaudino, 19, was arraigned on fourth-degree conspiracy, assigned to public defender James Ferrari and sent to jail on bail of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Police said the defendants are unemployed. Felony hearings were set for Dylan Gaudino and Scully on Monday and for Robert Gaudino on Tuesday.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant for a room at the motel where the Gaudinos lived, Brenner said, and Suboxone, a prescription medication that didn’t belong to the suspects, also was seized. The Gaudinos, who are brothers, have been arrested in similar cases, Brenner said.

Also Thursday, Robert Gaudino also was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, in connection with a separate incident and information provided by state police, Brenner said.

Gaudino was convicted in 2011 of a fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and therefore is prohibited possessing the sawed-off 20-gauge shotgun, which was seized, Brenner said.
