Foothills to host 'State of the State' reaction

---- — The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will present speakers addressing the “State of the State” on Tuesday with opportunities to hear from local, state and federal elected representatives, organizers said.

The program will be at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center on Market Street in Oneonta from 8 to 10 a.m.

Barbara Ann Heegan, chamber president and chief executive officer, reported in a recent bulletin that membership in the organization grew by 140 members in 2013.


A firm with offices on Bainbridge, Hancock and Walton has announced that two lawyers have become partners.

Coughlin & Gerhart LLP reported Kristen K. Luce and Robert H. McKertich became partners effective Jan. 1, a media release said.

McKertich joined Coughlin & Gerhart in 2009 and concentrates on land use and zoning law, environmental law, oil and gas law, municipal law and education law. He has a background in courtroom litigation and is experienced in practicing before federal, state and local administrative agencies.

Luce, who joined Coughlin & Gerhart in 2007, concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, guardianships, adoptions, litigated estate matters, real estate and oil and gas law. She is a member of the Broome County Bar Association.

Luce and McKertich were named as “rising stars” among lawyers in New York in the 2013 edition of Super Lawyers magazine, the release said. Coughlin & Gerhart, which has a main office at in Binghamton, has been in business more than 100 years. The firm has more than 40 lawyers and a support staff.


A local consulting firm is offering a one-day “virtual retreat” to develop plans to keep New Year’s resolutions.
