The body of a 29-year old man wanted in two separate gun burglaries at a Norwich store earlier this month was found Friday, state police at Sidney said, but the investigation is continuing.
A Norwich woman was arrested for her alleged role in the burglaries, which took place between 9:52 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, troopers said. More than 22 handguns, several long guns and many boxes of ammunition were stolen. None of the items has been recovered.
Foul play is not suspected at this point in the death of Christopher M. Gonzalez, troopers said. An autopsy is to be conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, but no date has yet been set.
Gonzalez, who was wanted for questioning in the incidents, was found dead in a wooded area off of Guinn Ridge Road in the town of Norwich by one of the teams involved with the search. State police, Chenango deputies, Norwich police and state Forest Rangers took part in the search.
Also in the case, Brandy L. Bousson, 25, was arrested Jan. 8, for third-degree burglary, troopers said. She was sent to Chenango County jail on $250,000 cash bail.
