A 23-year-old Chenango County man was killed and another is facing manslaughter charges after a fatal car crash that occurred in the town of Greene on Friday.
At roughly 2:00 a.m. Friday morning, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a call reporting that a 2000 Chevy Cavalier had struck a utility pole on Hogsback Road near County Road 32, Chenango County deputies said.
The driver, Bradley Goodrich, 22, of Greene, was airlifted to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City to be treated for internal injuries, deputies said. Goodrich’s passenger, Brandon Archer, 23, also of Greene, was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive internal injuries.
According to deputies, the Sheriff’s Office has determined that Goodrich was intoxicated at the time of the crash and an arrest warrant has been issued for him, charging him with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a class D felony, and second-degree manslaughter, a class C felony. Further charges may be pending.
Deputies said Goodrich will be arraigned upon being released from the hospital. Nurses at Wilson said on Sunday that the hospital did not have any information on Goodrich or his condition.
