---- — A fire on Tuesday morning in Delaware County destroyed a local woman’s hair salon, officials said Tuesday.
Walton Fire Chief Robert Brown said a 30-foot-by-130-foot pole barn on South River Road in Walton, belonging to Dennis and Michelle Dumond, was burned to the ground Tuesday morning and an attached, renovated section was badly damaged, as well. Michelle Dumond operated a hair salon called “A New Image” out of the renovated section which, Brown said, was a total loss.
The barn was across the driveway from the Dumond residence, Brown said, and no one was injured in the blaze.
Walton firefighters were dispatched at 2:39 a.m., Brown said, and remained at the scene until 9:55 a.m. Brown said the Delhi and Downsville fire departments also responded to the scene.
Brown said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
