A man who allegedly robbed the Mirabito Quickway on County Route 48 in Otego early Thursday morning was pursued and arrested, according to the New York State Police.
At about 4:40 a.m., Ryan Kennedy, 29, of Unadilla, entered the store armed with what appeared to be a black pistol, police said, stole gasoline, cigarettes, beer, and snack items, then fled the store in a 2000 GMC pickup.
State Police in Richfield Springs attempted a traffic stop on State Route 205 in the town of Hartwick a short time later, but Kennedy drove away, police said in a media release. The pursuit ended when Kennedy’s car was disabled and he was taken into custody without further incident.
An investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from a Unadilla residence. Found in the vehicle were two black pellet guns along with proceeds from the robbery, police said. Kennedy was charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree grand larceny, aggravated felony DWI and various other penal law and vehicle and traffic charges. He was processed at the State Police barracks in Oneonta where his blood alcohol content was determined to be .19, the release said. Kennedy was arraigned in the town of Otsego and remanded to Otsego County Jail.
State Police were assisted by the Cooperstown Police Department during the pursuit.
