Three area residents have been arrested after an investigation into the distribution of heroin, Chenango County deputies said.
At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies and Sherburne police executed a no-knock search warrant at 5A Knapp St. in the village of Sherburne, according to a media release from deputies.
The raid was conducted after an investigation by narcotics detectives and after county court Judge Frank Revoir issued a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, detectives seized heroin, cocaine, marijuana, scales, packaging material, an illegally possessed rifle and cash, the release said.
Three defendants were taken into custody at the scene without incident and charged as indicated below:
Jennah I. Shreve, 21, and Joshua C. Trask, 23, both of the village of Sherburne, were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, first-degree criminal nuisance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child. The two defendants were arraigned in North Norwich Town Court and sent to county jail in lieu of $1,000 bail, pending appearance in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.
Dustin Dunagan, 22, of the town of Sherburne, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, deputies said. He was released on a ticket to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.
More arrests are pending, deputies said.
