---- — Arrest made in Hamden fire
A Hamden man has been arrested and accused of negligently causing a forest fire after a debris fire he set spread to adjacent land, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph G. Kilanowski, 54, was burning wood debris on his property on East Terry Clove Road on Saturday, when the fire flared out of control and spread to a wooded area, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
The Delhi Fire Department extinguished the flames, and deputies arrested Kilanowski under state Department of Environmental Conservation law.
A statewide burn ban was in effect at the time of the fire.
