Girl Scouts to collect food during parade

The Girl Scouts of the Oneonta Area will host a food drive during the Oneonta Holiday Parade on Saturday. 

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Girl Scouts will be on hand to collect donations for the St. James’ Episcopal and St. Mary’s local food pantries. 

Oneonta to cease brush pickup

The city of Oneonta will no longer be picking up bags and brush as of Dec. 2. City residents may bring yard debris, leaves and brush to the green waste site at 76 Silas Lane, open from 7 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. weekdays. Visitors can sign in at the Public Works building to receive a key to the gate.

Town reminds residents ofsnow rules

A media release from the town of Maryland reminded residents to keep vehicles and other obstructions away from the road during the winter to enable crews to clear the roads of snow. 

According to the release, the town is not responsible to pay for damage done to mailboxes and fences during the course of winter road maintenance. Vehicles parked on the town’s right-of-way may also be towed if the owner cannot be contacted.
