---- — Changes are coming to the Hannaford Plaza, several people involved recently said.
The Southside Oneonta plaza is owned by Bettiol Enterprises. President Eugene Bettiol said with a new facade on the stores, he expects the plaza to be fully occupied by early 2014.
With the new additions, there are several tenants for the remaining vacancies and “we are picking out ones that will give the facility the proper mix,” he said.
The Liquor Depot is planning to expand into the renovated spot where Blockbuster had been, said Aileen Pier, who owns the business with her husband. When it is completed after New Year’s, the move will double the space of the business to 6,000 square feet.
“We were always short of room, so we took the opportunity,” she said. The move is being delayed to keep any closing to a minimum, she said. With the holiday season coming on “we didn’t want to disrupt business.”
Bassett Family Medicine-Oneonta, is scheduled to move in mid-October into the space that had housed FoxNow, Dr. Carlton Rule, medical director for the Bassett facility said. The practice is operating at 125 Main St., which will continue to house Bassett internal medicine and pediatric offices after the move.
This will give Bassett a chance to expand its family medicine practice, Rule said. There has been some increased need in Oneonta and with more people having insurance through the Affordable Care Act, Bassett anticipated more people will be seeking out its services, he said, including preventative care and routine health maintenance. There is also an opportunity for additional space at the site, he said.
