---- — Firefighters battled a blaze at a Main Street property in Hobart late Friday night, but no fire or village officials were available to provide details.
Lisa Morris, a cashier at the Mirabito convenience store on Main Street, said she stood in the store’s parking lot and could see a red hue in the sky from fire that had reached up to the roof. The property burning was an empty house about two doors away on Main Street, she said, and a contractor, who stopped in the store, said he had worked in the vacant house and that it didn’t have electricity.
Morris said Main Street was closed when crews were fighting the fire but business picked up after the street re-opened at about 10:15 p.m.
