An economic development summit in Oneonta this week will be broadcast live.
According to a media release from state Sen. James L. Seward, R-Milford, the Thursday event at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center will be recorded through a partnership with the State University College at Oneonta. The live feed will be shown locally on cable channel 23, and a live webcast link will be available on the senator’s website, www.senatorjimseward.com.
“A diverse group of over 300 elected officials, business leaders and educators will be in the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center for the Otsego County Economic Development Summit II,” Seward said in the release. “Now those who can’t make it in person, like sole-proprietors or other small business owners, can watch it live, or view an archived version.”
Seward is sponsoring the summit in conjunction with the Otsego County Development Corporation, the County of Otsego Industrial Development Agency, the Otsego County Chamber, and Citizens’ Voices. Local elected officials and business leaders, along with representatives from area educational institutions, have been invited.
SUNY Oneonta Director of Communications Hal Legg said, “SUNY Oneonta is proud to support this event and make it accessible to a broader audience. Framing a plan for economic development will be critically important to our region, and we join Senator Seward and other participants in their belief that Otsego County is positioned for growth.”
The summit is a follow-up to an event convened by Seward in 2012 to help revitalize Otsego County’s efforts in regard to economic development. The summit will include roundtable discussions moderated by economic development experts from the public and private sectors. For more information about the summit, call 432-5524.
