Three charged with felony heroin sale

Oneonta city police arrested three local men for felony drug charges on Thursday.

The City of Oneonta Police Department Detective Bureau arrested Adam G. Scully, 24, of Oneonta, on Thursday afternoon for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Scully was arraigned in the City of Oneonta Court and was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to appear at a later date, police said.

With the charges he faces, Scully could spend more than seven years in prison. He was previously arrested in February, along with two other men, after police found 46 bags of heroin in a Motel 88 room where two of the men lived.

Police arrested two other Oneonta men Thursday night on felony charges after finding 11 bags of heroin that were packaged for sale.

Police arrested Cody Clapper, 25, for fourth-degree conspiracy, a class E felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, and Ray Arnold, 22, for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

Arnold and Clapper were arraigned in the City of Oneonta Court and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending future court appearances.

The arrests were the result of a cooperative investigation among the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department, the Oneonta Police Department and the New York State Parole Enforcement division, police said.
