A small tanker filled with used cooking oil overturned on County Route 23 in the town of Otsego on Sunday night, according to Otsego County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said emergency personnel were contacted at 5:42 p.m. to respond to the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck was injured in the turn over and was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, deputies said.
The Fly Creek Fire Department, state police, hazardous materials team and county fire coordinators were still at the scene at 8 p.m. and it was unknown at that time why the truck overturned. The Department for Environmental Protection has been notified, deputies said, and the investigation is ongoing.
