A Richmondville woman has pleaded to stealing almost $400,000 from a local real estate agent, the Schoharie County District Attorney’s Office said.
Kelly A. Garreau, 48, pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny, a felony, in Schoharie County Court, on April 9, a media released from the district attorney’s office said.
Garreau was indicted by a grand jury Aug. 28 for embezzling $389,000 from Alton Makely, a local real estate agent, between February 2006 and March 2013, the release said.
Garreau will reappear for sentencing Dec. 3 and faces a maximum sentence of up to five to 15 years in prison, the release said.
Cobleskill village police, with assistance from state police Financial Crimes Unit and the district attorney’s office, conducted the investigation.
